WORK OF RANKIN
John Rankin Waddell was born 1966. By the photographer name of Rankin he was a british fashion and portraiture photographer. Waddell was born in Paisley and brought up in St Albans Hertfordshire. Whilst studying at Brighton, he realised that his interests lay somewhere else and dropped out, taking up the study of photography at Barnfield College Luton and then London college of printing. During this time, Rankin met Jefferson hack forming a working relationship. The two decided to start a magazine together called Dazed and Confused once they had graduated.
Rankin is one of the most famous photographers in Britain and has taken many unique photographs in his time. I really admire his work and how he takes his photographs into consideration. In my eyes his creativity is on the top of photography today. I really enjoy his black and white portraits because they are well created and thought about. Even though they are black and white they are full of light and are clear to see. His ways of giving life to the photographs are amazing and i really admire how he asks people to perform in the photographs.
I used Rankin's techniques to produce some photographs with hands for myself. I really admire Rankin's work with hands because it create a different feel to the photograph. When the photograph is taken its not necessarily about the face. The hands add more to the photograph and create a style for it. Shows that there is more to the photograph and more thought on how to make it interesting. Rankin's hand photography gives the feeling of unique and stylish work. They add more to the photograph an express an whole new feel than just a regular portrait would.
