RESEARCH OF OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS
The docks have given me many great ideas for my own photographs. They are outstandingly great for reflections and give off a unique feel to each photograph taken. I like the docks because there are many different ideas and things you can do to produce some brilliant photographs.
The liver building has also given me multiple ideas for excellent photographs that can be taken. The liver building is a stunning landmark filled with great photographs that i have taken into consideration and considerably though about. In a previous project i took many photographs of the liver building which, looking back at it i really enjoyed and admired greatly. Im going to try to use blue and grey skies to my advantage. I understand there won't be many blue days however when they come about i will make full use of them to unsure my photographs contain colour and variety throughout. |
MY OWN PHOTOGRAPHS
MUSEUMS
I decided to photograph both museums because it gives a contrast between modern and traditional style buildings which brought me towards them both. Throughout the day i got blue skies, grey skies and both at the same time which gave me a variety of photographs to take to my advantage. I used this opportunity to create these photographs above looking at the different ways i could make the photograph more than it can be. I looked at the different angles i could use to capture the buildings best qualities as well as interceptions for example the branches being in the photograph to give more of a style to the photograph.
MY TIMED EXAMINATION WORK
Using Photoshop, I decided to change some the photographs to a monochromatic tone. In doing so I felt the need to crop some of the photographs to remove any parts that I didn’t like as I knew it would make the photograph look much more better and more professional. In order to balance out the monochromatic photographs, I then decided to up the colour and contrast of some of the photographs. This ensured the photograph had its original look towards it; only the contrast was manipulated to were the photograph looked a lot more professional.
THE DOCKS
I decided to revisit this photograph because i believe its one of my best photographs iv taken. This therefore gave me an idea to manipulate this one photograph using photoshop.
I started by changing the vibrance having a monochromatic background but keeping the colours in the image to add that unique feel towards the photograph. Next i decided to change the photograph to black and white. I then started to change the levels creating a full monochromatic image that looked intriguing and almost professional. I really enjoyed taking photographs of the liver building. I looked for so many ways in which i could make the liver building look more unique and magnificent than it already was. As well as the Liver building i took photographs of the Liverpool port building and the Cunard building too.
These three buildings gave me many amazing opportunities to photograph them from different angles. I made sure i could add obstruction in to the photographs for example tree branches just to give that little unique and interesting look to the photograph. The sky was blue and grey at times which gave me opportunities to get the best photographs possible. I looked for many angles that could change the liver building and make it look different in a way than just any other photograph. STATUESMY TIMED EXAMINATION WORK |
MY TIMED EXAMINATION WORKTHE LIVER BUILDINGMY TIMED EXAMINATION WORKUsing Photoshop I decided to change the Liver building to monochromatic. This effect really gives the photograph a different feel and look to it as it seems old century however is quite modern. I then took another photograph and increased the contrast. This expresses the colours that are within the photograph, which I felt needed to be shown as the photograph looks unique and quite professional.
I then decided to have a look at some effects I could use to really manipulate the photograph more than it should. I found an effect called Fresco, which really made the photograph distorted and dark. I did this because I felt the need to create different looking photographs that normally wouldn’t be created or manipulated in that particular way. I then decided to use an effect called Vibrance. This allowed the photograph to be a little darker however substantially keep all the colours that are within the photograph itself. I really like this because it expresses the colours that may not be looked at or acknowledged by the everyday human. It makes the viewer really look at the photograph in detail. Since my question consisted of landmarks i decided to take photographs of statues because i believe buildings aren't just landmarks, statues are landmarks as they have many meanings and backgrounds that are unique and important.
I decided to take photographs of little statues that don't seem significant but play a perfect part in my project. The photograph of the two tigers, looked intriguing to me as they both were symmetrical to each other on ether side. As i walked around Liverpool i found many beautiful; statues that needed to be photographed. My main focus was going to be the lions that sat in front of the Royal Hall however i decided to vary my statues so that i could show the significance of each one and how unique they looked. I photographed the Radio tower as its the most significant thing in Liverpool. In order to make sure the Radio tower was interesting i decided to make sure nature was obstructing it to give the photograph more quality and make it look more professional. THE BIG WHEELAfter taking photographs of the docks i stumbled across the Big Wheel which lightened a bulb in my head. The wheel is one of the most amazing and beautiful landmarks in Liverpool therefore i decided to take some photographs of it for my project.
I looked at many diffent angles of the wheel as its beautiful and amazing from all angles. The mix of blue and grey sky have man magnificent backgrounds for the wheel which gave more of a professional look towards the photograph. In the process of placing photographs into the site i cropped some of the photographs that contained parts of building in the left and right side of the photograph. I did this to make sure the photograph looked more professional and unique which i believe it did. |
MY TIMED EXAMINATION WORK
Whilst exploring through my photographs I decided to take the Big Wheel photographs and see what I could do in Photoshop to improve or change them in a certain way. I decided to start by cropping the photographs. This allowed certain objects not to conflict with the actual image, which really helped a significant amount.
Next I decided to use vibrance, which allowed me to keep my blue clouds however darken the actual wheel itself. I then used saturation to give the whole image a blue texture, which worked really well, and I was very happy with the image. I moved on to another Wheel image and decided I needed a contrast between light and darkness for the photographs. I started my cropping the image and then moved on to black and white. This gave me the starting point on the monochromatic style I was going to be putting on this photograph. When exploring what I could do to improve my photographs in Photoshop I decided to split the image into half. I decided to have one side coloured for a light image and the other side for a monochromatic image giving that two-sided effect which I really liked. I wanted to this because I really liked the way the colour slowly seeped into the black and white contrast. I really looked as if its sinking into the monochromatic effect and that’s why I thought it would make a fantastic image. Next I used levels, which allowed me to darken the image at certain ends giving the photograph an even more monochromatic look than it already was. I decided to use an effect on the Big Wheel, which would make the photograph look more unique and almost unnatural. I used an effect called atomo, which I placed, in the middle decreasing the opacity so that t would look perfectly inside the photograph itself. He final photograph looks pretty interesting and I’m glad it actually worked well. |
CATHEDRALS
MY TIMED EXAMINATION WORK
Looking at the Cathedral photographs iv taken I explored different ways in which I could change the photographs to a more precise and professional look. I first explored the dark photographs that I had taken. When I was out taking the photographs they came out as dark images naturally which I thought may ruin them but I actually decided they would be good additions to the site. I cropped a few things out and they work really well.
Next I used some effects to really give my photographs a mysterious look. I decided to take the photograph were I went inside the Cathedral and decided to darken it. The image was focused on the coloured glass, which I then found the scratch effect, which would go on top of the photograph. This then really gave the photograph a mysterious but interesting look and I was very pleased with that. I changed the opacity so that it perfectly fit with the photograph
